May 12, 2026

DOVER, Del. – Today, Future Caucus announced Sen. Darius Brown, D-Wilmington, as co-chair of the Delaware Future Caucus, joining Rep. Michael Smith, R-Pike Creek Valley, in leading this cross-partisan coalition of young state legislators. Delaware is home to one of 36 state Future Caucuses nationwide, each launched and led by lawmakers from both sides of the political aisle.

Since his election to the Delaware State Senate in 2018, Brown has emerged as a leading voice on economic opportunity and criminal justice reform. He has sponsored and advanced major bipartisan legislation, including the Clean Slate Act and Adult Expungement Reform Act, expanding access to record clearing for hundreds of thousands of Delaware residents. He currently serves as chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee and is a member of the Joint Finance Committee.

Brown is also a 2025–2026 Criminal Justice Innovation Fellow with Future Caucus, part of a bipartisan cohort of young lawmakers working to advance innovative policy reforms on key criminal justice issues.

“I’m proud to be selected as co-chair of the Delaware Future Caucus,” said Sen. Brown. “This work is about proving that collaboration is required for effective public service, and I look forward to getting to work with all my colleagues to deliver results for people across Delaware.”
