Twelve Young Lawmakers Join Forces to Shape State AI Policy

October 15, 2025

WASHINGTON — Today, Future Caucus unveiled the full membership roster for its National Task Force on State AI Policy, rounding out the cross-partisan team that will chart a path for responsible, forward-looking AI governance at the state level.

Co-chairs Rep. Monique Priestley, D-Vt., and Rep. Doug Fiefia, R-Utah, will lead the task force of 12 state lawmakers — six Democrats and six Republicans — who bring diverse regional perspectives and firsthand experience with technology, education, economic development and regulatory policy. The full membership is as follows:

  • Sen. Bradford Blackmon, D-Miss.
  • Rep. Lauren Bohi, R-Kan.
  • Asm. Alex Bores, D-N.Y.
  • Rep. Doug Fiefia, R-Utah (co-chair)
  • Rep. Vanessa Grossl, R-Ky.
  • Sen. Victoria Gu, D-R.I.
  • Rep. Joe Hogan, R-Pa.
  • Rep. Parker Moore, R-Ala.
  • Rep. Monique Priestley, D-Vt. (co-chair)
  • Sen. DeAndrea Salvador, D-N.C.
  • Rep. Brianna Titone, D-Colo.
  • Rep. Marcus Vaughn, R-Mass.

“The goal of the National Task Force on State AI Policy is to deliver sustained, credible leadership on one of the most urgent and far-reaching challenges of our time,” said Priestley. “With this full complement of lawmakers, we have both depth and balance. We can bring real solutions to statehouses across America.”

“AI will affect every corner of society, from jobs to healthcare, education and public safety,” said Fiefia. “The stakes are too high for half-measures. The members of this task force — and the community of forward-thinking young lawmakers we represent — are poised to address AI policy challenges without partisan gridlock and get this right, together.”

State governments are increasingly on the front lines of AI policy, from regulating autonomous systems and algorithmic decision-making to guiding public sector deployments and protecting public trust. But many state legislators lack access to deep technical expertise or frameworks for responsible governance. The task force will:

  • Hold public hearings and closed briefings with AI, technology, academic, civil society and industry experts
  • Publish a Bipartisan State AI Policy Memo with core principles and operational strategies
  • Serve as a brain trust for state-level AI legislation, helping legislators understand trade-offs, risks and opportunities
  • Advise Future Caucus’ AI programming (Innovation Lab, convenings, outreach)
  • Facilitate peer learning across states, connecting lawmakers confronting similar AI policy challenges
