Representative Brianna Titone (D-CO)

Brianna Titone is a dedicated public servant and problem solver with a strong background in finance, technology, and leadership. A proud resident of Arvada for nearly 17 years, Brianna’s journey to Colorado was driven by her career as a geologist. Since then, she has expanded her expertise through roles as a mining consultant, and full stack web developer. Brianna made history in 2018 as Colorado’s first openly transgender elected official when she flipped a Republican district and won her seat in the State Legislature. If elected as Colorado’s next State Treasurer, she would become first openly transgender statewide executive-level official in the country, breaking new ground for representation while bringing a valuable skill set, trust, and dependability to all Coloradans. 

Brianna is a fierce consumer advocate who has worked tirelessly to promote economic fairness for all. She championed groundbreaking “right to repair” laws, regulated artificial intelligence to prevent misuse, HOA regulations, and introduced price-gouging protections during emergencies. Her leadership on fiscal responsibility also includes expanding access to affordable housing and revitalizing communities through grant and tax credit programs. As vice chair of the House Finance committee and on the Appropriations committees she hears bills on a wide variety of topics and is a critical vote on all aspects of Colorado’s monetary requests.

Politicians typically think about “what is good right now to help my election”. They think about their elections more than you. NOT Brianna. She’s a public servant, and she believes in forward pragmatic thinking. Working for solutions that last beyond tomorrow and past the time she is allowed to serve you. As HOA Board member and, later, President, she discovered their finances in poor shape. She worked with the Board to find ways of reducing costs and planning for the future. She took her meager savings when she arrived and grew it 10-fold to allow them to get better interest rates, reduce any future assessments, and retain property value.

Brianna grew up in the Hudson Valley of New York, where her hard working parents and immigrant grandparents instilled the values of financial discipline, integrity, and service. Watching her parents work hard to provide for their family, Brianna began working at the young age of 14 – often holding 1 to 3 jobs at a time through college. She earned a BA in Physics and a BS in Geology with a Minor in mathematics, an MS in Geochemistry, and a MS in Information Communication Technology at the University of Denver, which she completed during her first campaign for public office. She also attended the Harvard Kennedy School of Executive Leadership for State and Local officials on a scholarship. She’s won awards as an Undergrad, Grad Student, and in her first job out of school for her exemplary work ethic.

Brianna’s parents taught her sound financial practices at an early age. They were both public servant tax collectors (IRS and State of NY). They lived in the upstairs apartment at her grandparent’s home until her parents were given a portion of their property to build a home. Her Dad literally built the house she lived in with his friend over a coupe years because they couldn’t afford a builder. As public servants themselves, they didn’t make a lot, but they knew how to use their money wisely and taught those lessons to her. They paid only her tuition as she had to work to pay for her car, books, and everything else. She later worked as an environmental geologist, mining geologist, and a software developer, owning her own consulting business prior to running for office.

Brianna learned the value of service as a teen, joining her volunteer fire department at the age of 16 and served until she went to grad school in 2001. As a state legislator, she has served as Chair of the Legislative LGBTQ+ Caucus, Chair of the Joint Technology Committee, and as a member of multiple committees focused on state fiscal policy and budgeting, energy, environment, and public policy. She wanted to serve her country as an FBI Special Agent, working toward that path but aged out prior to finishing the process when she turned 37. Her entire life was spent wondering, “how can I make the world a better place”. She has been realizing that dream as an elected public servant and wants to continue that work.
