Millennials on the Rise: Millennial Action Project Releases Tracker of Millennials Headed to the 117th Congress

WASHINGTON — The Millennial Action Project (MAP) tracked all 703 Millennials who ran for Congress this cycle, and they have recently released a brand new interactive and live-updated map of the election results. 

The tracker showcases the 78 candidates aged 45 and under who were elected to the 117th Congress — 21 incoming freshmen and 57 incumbents who won re-election — as well as the districts they will represent beginning January 2021. 

This surge in Millennial candidates running for office and heading to Congress is indicative of the broader appetite for a fresh approach to governing and new perspectives that has been building steadily in recent years. MAP has been dedicated to helping these young lawmakers work across party lines for almost a decade now and continues to see these young leaders tackle issues from modernizing our democracy to building a more resilient energy infrastructure. 

This cycle, State Future Caucus Network members Nikema Williams (D-Ga.) and Byron Donalds (R-Fla.) won their races and will head to Congress, and will be invited to lead the Congressional Future Caucus, to bring their commitment to transcending political divides to the nation’s largest legislative body. They join at least two other members of MAP’s State Future Caucus Network stepping into the 117th Congress, winning seats amongst a record number of Millennial candidates.
