Michigan Youth in Government with Layla Zaidane and Rep. Meijer

Event date: January 13, 2022

  • Thursday, January 13, 2022 6:00 PM –  7:00 PM

In January, the YMCA Michigan Youth in Government hosted a special showing and guided discussion of the documentary film featuring Millennial Action Project (MAP), The Reunited States. MAP’s very own Layla Zaidane and CFC member Congressman Peter Meijer were special guests, giving virtual remarks at the event!

Michigan Youth in Government is a program stemmed from the YMCA that seeks to provide young people with leadership training to meet the needs of a democratic society and to develop an understanding and awareness of Michigan state government and national issues. They hosted this event to act as a tool towards building bridges to reunite our communities and their state.

“Our theory of change is that if supporting young leaders can bridge the (partisan) divide, then the notion of generational transformation becomes real. If we invest in this strategy, we can reach a tipping point as more and more young people step up…”
— Layla Zaidane
