Future Summit 2026
July 8-11 | Washington, D.C.

Next 250: The Courage to Build
The most consequential act is to stay, to innovate, and to improve the institutions we inherit.
As America marks its 250th anniversary, we gather in Washington, D.C., for our 10th annual Future Summit, where rising leaders convene to answer the evergreen question: what will you build next? This year’s theme, “Next 250: The Courage to Build,” celebrates a decade of builders and charges them with what comes next. Future Summit 2026 will be four days designed to do what the Capitol rarely allows: slow down, go deep, and leave with the relationships and resolve to govern better.

FEATURED EVENTS
The Night Cap: After-Hours Tour of the U.S. Capitol
Two hundred and fifty years of American history held in one, breathtaking building. Lawmakers writing America’s next chapter are invited on a private, after-hours tour of the U.S. Capitol.
Terms of Service: The Fine Print of Public Office
Most people who run for state office know why they ran. Fewer understand the full terms of what they accepted. Drawing on Future Caucus’ report, “The Exit Interview: Why Decent People Are Struggling to Serve,” this session examines the structural conditions that define life in office, including compensation that cannot sustain a family, safety threats that have become routine, and systems that have not kept pace with the demands on lawmakers. It surfaces what those conditions cost, where lawmakers have pushed back, and what it takes to make institutional change durable.
In Session: Tools of the Trade
For the first time, Future Caucus is hosting hands-on labs with TikTok and OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT, during Future Summit 2026. Participants will engage directly with representatives of the companies to learn how they can support constituent outreach, policy research, and the staffing demands of a busy office.
Lawmakers in the Loop: Building a Safer Internet for the Next Generation
The platforms shaping young Americans weren’t built for their wellbeing, and state lawmakers are closing that gap. This session moves past the headlines and into the architecture of harm, the legislative levers for state-driven change, and the human cost of inaction.
Toast to 250
Toast to 250 is Future Caucus’s celebration of the lawmakers who lead, the regions they represent, and the American story that is still being written. Anchored by “Eaterland: Recipes and Stories from Across the United States,” the evening brings the country’s regional food traditions to life—from the bayous to the heartland, the coast to the plains—because the land, the people, and the places that feed us are inseparable from who we are. This is a night to eat, to honor, and to raise a glass to the builders still writing the American story.
