James Madison Fellow Beth Fukumoto (R-HI) serves in the Hawaii State Legislature as the Minority Floor Leader. As part of her Fellowship post-partisan initiative, Fukumoto laid the groundwork for launching MAP’s first state-based institution called the Hawaii Future Caucus.

As part of her Fellowship post-partisan initiative, Fukumoto laid the groundwork for launching MAP’s first state-based institution called the Hawaii Future Caucus. She serves as a Co-Chair alongside State Representative Takashi Ohno (D-HI) and City Councilman Stanley Chang (nonpartisan).
At the Hawaii Future Caucus launch, Fukumoto stated that she and her fellow members “all share an interest in making sure that young people are interested [in government] and want to participate.”
