HR855, the VETS Safe Travel Act, introduced by Rep. Paul Gosar (AZ-4) and co-sponsored by CFC members Rep. Seth Moulton (MA-6) and Rep. Mike Gallagher (WI-8) would ensure veterans that have lost or lost use of a limb, become paralyzed or partially paralyzed, or incurred permanent blindness shall be eligible under the PreCheck Program at no cost to the veteran.
Democrats and Republicans are collaborating to ensure that certain severely injured or disabled veterans are provided access to TSA PreCheck. HR855, the VETS Safe Travel Act, introduced by Rep. Paul Gosar (AZ-4) and co-sponsored by Congressional Future Caucus members Rep.
The legislation would require the Secretary of Veterans Affairs to coordinate with the Administrator of the Transportation Security Administration to engage appropriate veterans service organizations to assess the awareness of veterans of relevant TSA programs and examine the need and feasibility of other measures to improve travel security procedures for disabled veterans.
The legislation has seventeen Republican co-sponsors and ten Democratic co-sponsors and has been referred to the House Homeland Security and Veterans’ Affairs committees.
