Ebonē "Chanel" Hooks
Criminal Justice Reform Graduate Fellow
Ebonē “Chanel” Hooks is the Criminal Justice Reform Graduate Fellow for Future Caucus, the largest nonpartisan organization of young lawmakers in the United States. Future Caucus works with over 1,800 Gen Z and millennial elected leaders in Congress and state legislatures to bridge divides, collaborate on future-oriented policy, and scale a healthy culture of democracy. She is originally from Birmingham, Alabama, currently residing in Maryland. She holds degrees in Criminal Justice and International Affairs, Intelligence Operations, and Strategic Intelligence, and is on track to complete her PhD in Criminal Justice May 2025.
Chanel has served in both the Army National Guard and the Army Reserve as an all-source intelligence analyst and has worked in the federal government in various capacities, including geospatial intelligence, cartography, and imagery analysis. Her career spans over the last fifteen years, with experience at agencies such as the Department of Homeland Security, Defense Intelligence Agency, Missile Defense Agency, Federal Bureau of Investigations, and the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency.
Her passion lies in criminal justice reform, particularly in areas such as juvenile justice, recidivism reduction, reentry after incarceration, and improving outcomes for those impacted by the justice system. She aims to create meaningful change and assist in advancing policies that promote fairness and equity. Chanel’s goal is to be of service.
Outside of work, Chanel enjoys football (Roll Tide and Fly Eagles Fly!), reading, cooking, and spending time with family. She also volunteers with her local fire department! She is thrilled to support the work of Future Caucus and looks forward to collaborating to make a positive impact.
