Mohammed Alam
External affairs manager, center for court innovation
Mohammed Alam is an advocate for advancing youth and minority engagement in local and national politics.
He is currently the External Affairs Manager at a project of the Center for Court Innovation. The Center for Court Innovation works to improve courts and other agencies around the country to administer humane and restorative justice by responding to the needs of its surrounding communities.
While pursuing his undergraduate degree Mohammed became politically active. He worked for Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, Congressman Charles Rangel, and Speaker of the NYC Council Christine Quinn. He also campaigned for Governor Cuomo and President Obama. Before graduating Mohammed worked for the New York State Attorney General’s Office, the Center for American Progress, and interned for The White House.
Also during his studies he co-founded and was President of the Roosevelt Institute at the City College of New York; a collegiate chapter of the Roosevelt Institute, a national think-tank.
During the 2016 presidential campaign Mohammed voluntarily served as a Finance Council Member and organizer for Hillary for America. Since then he serves as Vice President for the Manhattan Young Democrats and as National Committeeman for the New York State Young Democrats representing New York to the Young Democrats of America. He is a member of the #Fight4AFuture National Leadership Council for Generation Progress, and is a New Leaders Fellow at the Carnegie Council for Ethics in International Affairs.
Mohammed is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the Colin Powell School at The City College of New York, with a B.A. in Political Science and Minor in Public Policy and Public Affairs.
