The Marian B. and Jacob K. Javits Foundation selects Future Caucus to continue honoring principled, bipartisan leaders in Congress
WASHINGTON — The Marian B. and Jacob K. Javits Foundation announced today that Future Caucus will assume administration of the Jacob K. Javits Prize for Bipartisan Leadership.
The prize, established in 2016 and previously administered by Results for America, honors elected leaders who embody the late Sen. Jacob Javits’ legacy of bipartisan statesmanship and principled leadership in service to the American people. Future Caucus will present the 2025 Javits Prize at its annual Rising Star Awards in November.
“Sen. Javits believed that democracy depends on leaders who are willing to bridge their differences to do what’s right for the country,” said Carla Javits, president of the Marian B. and Jacob K. Javits Foundation and daughter of the late senator. “Future Caucus’ tireless efforts to build political bridges and empower a rising generation of lawmakers embody that belief, deeply aligning with my father’s own vision and values. In a time of historic political division, the young leaders of the Congressional Future Caucus and State Future Caucus Network remind us that courage, compassion and common ground are still essential to American politics.”
“Bipartisan solutions are the greatest solutions, and we should always be striving to add more seats to the table — not fewer,” said Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine, recipient of the inaugural Javits Prize in 2016. “Working with those on the opposite side of an issue and negotiating in good faith produces the best legislation — legislation that will stand the test of time.”
Future Caucus, a nonpartisan organization that empowers Gen Z and millennial lawmakers to bridge the partisan divide, will present the 2025 Javits Prize at its annual Rising Star Awards in November. The prize has previously honored distinguished leaders from across the political spectrum who exemplify integrity, civility and a commitment to collaborative problem-solving.
Past recipients:
2019: The late Sen. Richard Lugar, R-Ind.; Rep. Hakeem Jeffries, D-N.Y.; and former Rep. Doug Collins, R-Ga.
2018: The late Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., and Sen. Jack Reed, D-R.I.
2017: Former Vice President Joe Biden; Sen. Rob Portman, R-Ohio; Rep. Diana DeGette, D-Colo.; and Rep. Fred Upton, R-Mich.
2016: Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine; Sen. Cory Booker, D-N.J.; and Sen. Tim Scott, R-S.C.
“We are honored to carry forward this incredible legacy,” said Layla Zaidane, president and CEO of Future Caucus. “At a time when Americans yearn for leaders who put people over politics, the Javits Prize is a powerful reminder that principled, bipartisan leadership is not a hallmark of the past — it’s the path forward. The Javits Prize honors the leaders who are choosing to meet this moment with courage, and with an eye toward the country we can become.”
