Republicans and Democrats are coming together in the 117th Congress to address numerous issues facing veterans. HR1276, the VA Vaccine Act of 2021, introduced by Rep. Mark Takano (CA-41) and co-sponsored by Congressional Future Caucus (CFC) members Rep. Ruben Gallego (AZ-7), Rep. Jim Banks (IN-3), Rep. Derek Kilmer (WA-6), Rep. Lee Zeldin (NY-1), Rep. Peter Meijer (MI-3) and Rep. Brendan Boyle (PA-2) passed the House of Representatives unanimously without objection on March 9th, 2021, passed the Senate on March 17th, and was signed into law by President Biden on March 24th.

The bill will authorize the Department of Veterans Affairs to provide COVID-19 vaccines to veterans who are not eligible to enroll in the VA healthcare system, specified veterans who are eligible for hospital care, medical services, and nursing home care abroad, and family caregivers of veterans participating in the VA’s Program of Comprehensive Assistance for Family Caregivers.

Our nation’s veterans have earned nothing but the highest quality care, and ensuring they have access to the coronavirus vaccine is the least we could do for their service to our nation,” Republican co-sponsor and CFC member Rep. Lee Zeldin stated after the House passed HR1276.
