Millennial Action Project Hosts their Largest Future Summit Yet, Announces New Criminal Justice Reform Initiative

The Millennial Action Project’s fourth annual Future Summit, held last Friday, was the organization’s largest yet. Over 60 legislators from nearly 30 states tuned in via Zoom to hear a keynote address from Martin Luther King III and participate in bridge-building breakout sessions throughout the day.

WASHINGTON, DC — The Millennial Action Project’s fourth annual Future Summit, held last Friday, was the organization’s largest yet. Over 60 legislators from nearly 30 states tuned in via Zoom to hear a keynote address from Martin Luther King III and participate in bridge-building breakout sessions throughout the day. Attendees also tuned into a session on leadership and coalition building featuring: Chris Gibson, a former three-term Republican Congressman from New York; Thione Niang, a social entrepreneur and founder of the Give1Project, Dr. Lara Brown, the director of the Graduate School of Political Management at George Washington University, and Robbie Bach, the creator of Xbox and a civic engineer.
The annual summit—where young, bipartisan legislators and policymakers from around the country convene to find common sense solutions to the most prominent issues facing their generation—also served as a forum for the group to announce their new Criminal Justice Reform Advisory Board that will oversee their new Criminal Justice Reform Initiative.

Our Criminal Justice Reform Advisory Board represents just the kind of bipartisan, coalition-building catalyst that is critical to enacting meaningful reform. We are so excited for what the future holds.”
The advisory board is co-chaired by State Rep. Leslie Herod (D-CO) and State Rep. Tanner Magee (R-LA). Reps. Herod and Magee also led a breakout session during the Summit on political bridge-building geared specifically towards criminal justice reform, helping give participants the tools they need to hit the ground running on this issue when legislatures reconvene.
